Duties of Editorial

 

The Editorial Office of Journal of Decision Support Systems and Multi-Criteria Decision Making is responsible for managing the journal's editorial and publication activities in accordance with academic standards, publication ethics, and applicable scholarly practices. Editors are expected to perform their responsibilities objectively, professionally, consistently, and independently throughout the manuscript lifecycle.

Editorial and Manuscript Management
  • Receive and manage manuscripts submitted through the journal's online submission system.
  • Verify the completeness of submission information and required documents.
  • Ensure that manuscripts are relevant to the journal's aims and scope.
  • Conduct appropriate initial manuscript screening before peer review.
  • Assign manuscripts to appropriate editors when necessary.
  • Monitor the progress of manuscripts throughout the editorial workflow.
Peer-Review Responsibilities
  • Select reviewers with appropriate expertise and research experience.
  • Consider reviewer availability and potential conflicts of interest.
  • Provide reviewers with appropriate evaluation criteria and relevant manuscript information.
  • Monitor the timeliness and quality of reviewer reports.
  • Seek additional reviewers when the available assessments are insufficient or substantially divergent.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of the peer-review process.
Editorial Decision-Making
  • Evaluate manuscripts based on academic quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and contribution.
  • Consider reviewer recommendations carefully without treating them as automatic editorial decisions.
  • Request revisions when additional clarification or improvement is required.
  • Provide clear and reasonable explanations for editorial decisions when appropriate.
  • Ensure that decisions are not influenced by personal, institutional, commercial, or other inappropriate considerations.
Ethical and Professional Responsibilities
  • Protect confidential information obtained during the editorial process.
  • Identify and appropriately manage conflicts of interest.
  • Respond appropriately to allegations of plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, and other forms of misconduct.
  • Maintain accurate editorial records.
  • Correct or clarify the published record when legitimate concerns arise.
  • Ensure fair treatment of authors and reviewers.
