Journal of Decision Support Systems and Multi-Criteria Decision Making (JODESMA) recognizes authorship as an academic responsibility that should reflect a substantial contribution to the conception, conduct, analysis, interpretation, or reporting of the research.

All individuals listed as authors should have made a meaningful intellectual or scholarly contribution to the work and should be able to take responsibility for their contribution.

Authorship should not be granted solely because of academic position, institutional authority, supervision, funding, administrative support, or personal relationships.

Authors are expected to agree on the authorship list before submission. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that:

• All individuals who qualify for authorship are included.
• No individual who qualifies for authorship is improperly excluded.
• All listed authors have approved the submitted manuscript.
• All authors have agreed to the order of authorship.
• All authors have approved the final version for publication.
• All authors are aware of their responsibilities concerning the integrity of the work.

Contributors who have provided valuable assistance but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged, subject to their permission.

Examples of contributions that may normally be acknowledged rather than treated as authorship include:

• Administrative assistance.
• General supervision.
• Technical support.
• Language editing.
• Data collection assistance without substantial intellectual contribution.
• Financial support alone.

The journal encourages authors to provide a contribution statement where appropriate, describing individual roles such as conceptualization, methodology, software, data curation, formal analysis, investigation, writing, visualization, supervision, project administration, and funding acquisition.

Changes to the authorship list after submission should be exceptional and must be justified. Any proposed addition, removal, or change in author order should be approved by all authors and communicated to the editorial office.

The journal may request written confirmation from all affected authors before considering an authorship change.

Authorship disputes should not be resolved solely by the journal when they concern institutional or employment relationships. Where necessary, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant institution or responsible authority.

Guest authorship, honorary authorship, gift authorship, ghost authorship, and other forms of inappropriate authorship are not permitted.

Journal of Decision Support Systems and Multi-Criteria Decision Making (JODESMA) follows established publication-ethics principles that require journals to provide clear authorship and contributorship policies and to address disputed authorship through appropriate procedures.
