Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) Statement

 

Journal of Decision Support Systems and Multi-Criteria Decision Making requires authors to provide a Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) Statement to transparently describe the specific contributions of each author to the research and manuscript.

The CRediT Statement should accurately reflect the actual contributions of each author. Authors may be assigned to one or more contributor roles, and not every role is required for every manuscript.

CRediT Contributor Roles
Conceptualization
Formulation of the research idea, objectives, and overall research direction.
Methodology
Development or design of the research methodology, models, procedures, or analytical approach.
Software
Development, programming, implementation, or maintenance of software and computational tools.
Validation
Verification of research results, methods, procedures, or analytical outputs.
Formal Analysis
Application of statistical, mathematical, computational, or other formal techniques to analyze data.
Investigation
Conducting research activities, experiments, observations, or data collection.
Resources
Provision of research materials, datasets, equipment, computing resources, or other essential resources.
Data Curation
Organization, management, cleaning, documentation, and maintenance of research data.
Writing – Original Draft
Preparation, creation, and development of the initial manuscript draft.
Writing – Review & Editing
Critical review, revision, editing, and improvement of the manuscript.
Visualization
Preparation of figures, tables, diagrams, charts, or other visual representations of the research.
Supervision
Oversight, mentoring, and guidance of the research activities and research team.
Project Administration
Coordination and management of research activities, schedules, documentation, and administrative responsibilities.
Funding Acquisition
Acquisition of financial support or research funding for the project.
How to Prepare the CRediT Statement
• Identify the specific roles performed by each author.
• Assign only roles that accurately represent the author's actual contribution.
• One author may contribute to multiple roles.
• More than one author may be assigned to the same contributor role.
• The statement should be agreed upon by all authors before manuscript submission.
Recommended Format
CRediT authorship contribution statement:
Author 1: Conceptualization, Methodology, Formal Analysis, Writing – Original Draft.
Author 2: Data Curation, Investigation, Software, Visualization.
Author 3: Validation, Writing – Review & Editing, Supervision.
Relationship to Authorship

The CRediT Statement complements the journal's authorship policy by providing a transparent record of individual contributions. Inclusion in the CRediT Statement does not by itself determine authorship. Individuals listed as authors must meet the journal's authorship criteria and accept responsibility for the integrity of the work.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the CRediT Statement is complete, accurate, and consistent with the actual contributions made during the research and manuscript preparation process. Any changes to contributor roles should be agreed upon by all authors and communicated to the Editorial Office when necessary.
