Duplicate Publication

 

Authors must not submit substantially the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time. They must also avoid publishing substantially overlapping research as separate publications without a clear scholarly justification and appropriate disclosure. Journal of Decision Support Systems and Multi-Criteria Decision Making (JODESMA) considers duplicate and redundant publication to be serious concerns that may compromise the originality and integrity of the scholarly record.

Prohibited Practices

The following practices are considered unacceptable:

  • Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals.
  • Republishing substantially the same article in another journal.
  • Reusing substantial portions of a previously published article without disclosure.
  • Dividing one study into multiple papers without sufficient scientific justification.
  • Failing to disclose closely related publications.
Related Publications

Authors should disclose previous publications, conference papers, preprints, datasets, or other publicly available materials that are closely related to the submitted manuscript. The Editorial Office of Journal of Decision Support Systems and Multi-Criteria Decision Making (JODESMA) may evaluate whether the submitted manuscript demonstrates sufficient originality and makes a distinct scholarly contribution. Any overlap with previously disseminated work should be explained transparently during submission.

Editorial Assessment and Possible Actions

Suspected duplicate or redundant publication will be assessed based on the extent of overlap, the relationship between the publications, the originality of the submitted work, and the explanations provided by the authors. Depending on the circumstances, Journal of Decision Support Systems and Multi-Criteria Decision Making (JODESMA) may request clarification, require revisions, reject the manuscript, suspend editorial processing, or take further action if the concern is identified after publication.
